Un Mélange

Tonight, as I was flicking through Poppy’s MP3 player (one her Uncle Matt did swapsies with Daddy a while ago), trying to find her something mellow to listen to as she falls asleep, I came across my Dawson’s Creek soundtrack.  (This MP3 player has all kinds of extremely random stuff on it, including theological sermons, Mariah Carey and trance remixes).

I was a huge fan of Dawson’s Creek in my youth 😉 around 17 years old and can say I have seen every single episode multiple times.  This soundtrack will ALWAYS remind me of my friends Laura Hawkins and Andrea Fisher and I wanna give them a shout out.  Woot!!!

As I pressed play on Poppy’s MP3 player and heard the first few notes of Kiss Me by Sixpence None The Richer, I immediately went back to my last 2 years of secondary school and felt all fuzzy inside.  What fun those 2 years were.  I miss those girls and regret not keeping in touch with them more.  But I am going to have to borrow that MP3 player and relive those years a few more times over in my head just for the giggles.

Earlier this evening Drew took Poppy and Henry out to a community event in our gorgeous little town called La Motte Servolex.  Tonight it was Bolivian dancers in the town square!  I went down for a few minutes, their costumes were so beautiful and colorful.  It was coming up to 8pm and Drew said come on we should go home, then he stopped and said “No, this is what summer is all about”.  And he is right, nothing beats long summer evenings with community events that bring everyone together.  It’s so charming and quaint and a great way to meet people or bump in to people you keep seeing around town.  We really feel our time running out here now that we’re in the second half of the year.  We are so eager to make the most of this way of life before moving to a completely different one!  So bring on the later bedtimes, they aren’t cranky anyways because there’s entertainment!

In other news, I have to show you this adorable tea set Poppy got for her Birthday from some friends here in France doing the same as us.  The Burgess’.  Thank you Jenise, Fran, Shay and Adley.  It’s one of Poppy’s favorite things to do right now!!

Do you want a cup of tea Mummy?

Next.  Last weekend was the Maust Family Retreat weekend and we were missing it so much!  As I was taking photos of Poppy and her tea set I suddenly realised Poppy was wearing the t-shirt her Uncle Justin made for her at last year’s Maust Family retreat!  Such a sweet reminder of the joy it was to go and spend that precious time with Drew’s extended family.  Thank you Uncle Justin for making that awesome tie-dyed t-shirt!

And for the big finale. A climbing Henry, the latest in his new bag of tricks.  You’ll wanna hold your breath at the end, but don’t worry I stopped filming because I was scared he was going to fall.  He didn’t.  Goodnight everyone.

I love that you loved that show too, Emily! It came on at 8:00pm every Wednesday evening, and my friend Steph and I would all but run out of the Wednesday night church service that ended at 8, race to her house close by, and stay glued to the TV for the next hour. So fun to remember 🙂 My favorite thing when watching it now is to spot the American Eagle clothing that I bought just because I saw Joey wearing it on the show. Lol.
