You Are My Sunshine

Today was the first Saturday that Drew and I have spent together since we both quit the Tearoom. Drew has worked almost every Saturday for the past 3 years so it was a big day for him and for all of us. We were also blessed with a super sunny and springlike day so we HAD to get out of the house. After Poppy’s morning nap (which actually turned into the afternoon cuz she slept for so long) we jumped into the car and headed to a scrubs store so I could check out their selection of shoes and scrubs. After we left there we headed to Homewood Nursery, we had popped in to this garden centre a while back looking for a friends present so we were keen to go back and have a good look around. They had some amazing Orchids and really cool water features. Leaving there we grabbed a bite to eat and then headed to Durant Park for a walk by the lake. It was so sunny and nice, a little windy but nice and warm in the sun. It was quite busy, lots of people making the most of the opportunity to get out with their dogs and kids. At the end of our walk we came across the playground and had fun taking photos of Poppy on the different things, we almost got her swinging from the monkey bars! Warning: there a lot of photos.

No Longer a Stay at Home Mum

I started orientation for my RN job yesterday. Right now its just standard stuff, risk management, patient safety etc etc. I find out what units I’ll be rotating on on Thursday and then I start on the first unit next Wednesday, I better buy some scrubs soon

All this working though means I’m not at home with my sweet pea, she gets the honor of spending lots of time with her Daddy now. So if you want more photos and updates on the little rascal then you better leave a comment to show your vote for more photos.

Half Dressed Monkey

This is usually how Poppy’s morning goes. She wakes up at 7am, eats breakfast and plays until 9am then takes a nap until roughly 11am, then gets dressed. Well this morning after her nap I started getting her dressed and she was all fidgety and fussing, so I sat her on the floor to talk to Drew and then proceeded to put on her trousers and dress while she was sitting on the floor. She was all over the place and I successfully got her trousers on but the dress only made it over her head before she was wiggling and stretching to get away. She found the bars on her changer and was pulling herself up onto her knees, so I ran to get the camera. She’ll be exactly 8 months tomorrow.

Fruit and Nut

I guess I should be grateful that the big American company Kraft, bought Cadbury’s. It just doesn’t feel the same anymore, just knowing that it’s owned by an American company. I like to think back to the good ol’ days when I took a tour around the Cadbury’s factory in Bournville with the Girl Guides, the best part was the gift shop! Well I won’t hold it against Kraft, I heard people were blaming the British Government for not stepping in to help Cadbury’s out.

Drew likes to surprise me with a Cadbury’s Fruit and Nut bar every once in a while. The other day he took Poppy for a walk in her pushchair and came back in saying “Poppy has something for you under her blanket, take a look”.

Noodles & Company

On Sunday it was nice and warm so we went out for lunch at Noodles & Company. These days Poppy does not sit still for a second and you have to find ingenious ways to keep her entertained. I took some food for her to eat while we were eating but she wasn’t interested in it, she wanted what we were having so I gave her a piece of my pesto pasta and she loved it! She ended up sucking and chewing on three pieces!

I think its fair to say that Poppy comes from a musical family even though its only her Granddad and Aunty Sally who currently pick up their instruments at least once a week. So we thought we’d introduce Poppy to her first musical instrument early. Let the records show that Poppy played her first note on the piano at almost 8 months old, haha! And she took to it so well that she was even singing along by the end of it. We’ll get her playing some Mozart soon just for her Grandad.

I’m A Big Girl In A Shopping Cart

Poppy’s Grandma kindly bought her a cart cover recently and the other day we used it for the first time. Thank you Granny C, Poppy can be a big girl now and sit in the cart and enjoy looking around at all the people instead of being strapped up in her car seat.

When I look at these photos I realise how big Poppy is getting and how fast she is growing up

To The Park We Go

Today was lovely and sunny and not too cold so Poppy and I went for a little walk to the park just up our road. It’s called Taylor Street Park and it’s really cute. It’s very new so all the playground stuff still looks nice. There’s a sandpit too with diggers you can sit on and scoop up the sand. Poppy and I only went on the swings and the slide because we really needed Daddy there with us to go on the other things but he wasn’t feeling well today so we left him on the sofa.
