Team Marshmallow

25 Apr 2007 In: Uncategorized

We are very happy indeed to celebrate with our friends Jason & Jamie Simmons on the birth of their first child, a very cute Gracie Nicole (born April 24). Weighing in at 6.8lbs, don't let this petite snickerdoodle fool you, she'll grow up to be just as feisty as her dad. Be sure to check out their website TeamMarshmallow.com for all the latest news and pictures of the bundle of joy in action (or just sleeping). Congratulations, Jason & Jamie. We celebrate with you on the advent of your new blessing!

Fashion Show a Fashion Hit

21 Apr 2007 In: Drew and Emily

Friday evening at 7:00PM there wasn’t a more posh place to be in Wake Forest than The Olde English Tea Room . RSVPed guests were seated at tables adorned with fine china (gold and platinum) and then admired dressed-up cats walking down the cat walk. Of course we’re talking about the first ever Olde English Tea Room Fashion Show, the brain child of my Emily Clare. The show consisted of four sets: Formal, Vintage, Garden Party and Wedding; and was themed Fifty Years of Fashion, featuring the dress of yesteryear in all the above categories.

A standing ovation for the all the models and especially Emily! People are already wondering when the next fashion show will be!

Pictures will be online soon and video may (very tentative) be available sometime thereafter.

Luau + Pictures

30 Mar 2007 In: Birthdays, Pictures

The Luau (or Druau) was a blast! We want to thank the 20 or so people that came out and congratulations to Jason (from the Tea Room) for winning the best dressed, and Ms. Katie Waters for conquering any and all hula hoop challengers.

Find the pictures online in the Gallery.

Posted on Friday night before the Luau:
We wanted to remind everyone that tonight at our little abode will be a luau complete with: kebabs, hot dogs, (virgin) margaritas, pineapple and cheese, s’mores, tiki torches, leis, bon fire, hula hoop contest, limbo contest, grilled corn on the cob and the best company around. We look forward to a fun, summery evening in our backyard as we eat, party, chill out and be merry. All are welcome! For those that are unable to make, we will be sure to take lots of pictures and videos to post on the site.

PS. Happy Birthday to my cousin Fur!

Happy Birthday Stardust!

14 Mar 2007 In: Uncategorized

Who's Stardust? you say. Stardust is none other than Christina Maust, our beloved sister-in-law, and we would like to let it be known to the whole world that today, March 14, is none other than the day in which Christina grew from a little nebula into a full-fledged star. In other words: today's her birthday!

Happy Birthday, Christina!

Who Wants $5?

12 Mar 2007 In: Random

Ok, we’ve mentioned doing giveaways on MaustsOnToast.com before, but as of yet haven’t. That’s all about to change right now! We’ve got a $5 claim code/voucher/coupon for Amazon.com that expires on May 12, 2007. As much as we love Amazon and all the fancy gadgets and goodies they have for sale, we love our MaustsOnToasters more! That’s right, you. We love you! I won’t post the code here right away lest moth and dust destroy it before we’ve had the chance to bestow it upon you. So, if you’re interested, simply leave a comment saying you would like the code and tell us what you are going to use it to buy. That’s it!

The Lost Tomb of Jesus at a Loss

4 Mar 2007 In: Random

There’s tremendous hype surrounding the so-called Jesus Family Tomb for one simple reason: if the bones of Jesus are contained therein, Christianity is false. Christianity lives because Jesus died and lives.

If you find your faith shaken by the “discoveries” reported by the makers of the documentary and the possibility that this could be true, I would direct you to the following links which have drafted winsome and scholarly responses:

The resounding consensus seems to be that “no reputable scholar (Christian or non-Christian) wants to attribute any credibility to the ideas put forth in James Cameron’s forthcoming documentary ‘The Lost Tomb of Jesus’” (DennyBurk.com).

My conclusion: Jesus lives!

Lunar Eclipse of the Heart

3 Mar 2007 In: Drew and Emily, Video

What happens when the Earth gets between the Sun and Moon? It’s a total lunar eclipse of the Moon!

If you’re in the eastern United States like Emily and I, you want to look east just after sunset between the hours of 7 and 8 tonight Saturday, March 3, 2007.

If you’re in the UK, turn your eyes toward heaven at approximately 11:58pm tonight.

About Us

I'm a seminary student and Emily's a nursing student. We live in sunny Wake Forest, NC, where we've been since January 2007 after moving from my home state of West Virginia. We probably wouldn't be so interesting if we didn't like to party, cook, dance, mingle, read, blog, travel, love, and eat, and we hadn't braved US immigration after getting married in 2005 in England from whence Emily cometh.
