Daddy Dance Party

Some Daddies like to watch football, some Daddies like to watch basketball or baseball, some Daddies even like to go fishing. But this Daddy likes to dj! I know for sure that if Drew didn’t feel called by God to aide in giving God’s word to remote people groups who don’t yet have it in the language they grew up speaking, then he would be trying to make it as a DJ. LOL. So you can imagine that there are days when Drew will bust out his decks and turn our house into his very own club, minus the large amounts of drunk 20-somethings and disco lights. Yesterday was one of those days so I had to record the event. It was a tame party and I couldn’t get Poppy to come downstairs and dance like she normally does but the next post will explain why! Teehee. Here is DJ Daddy doing his thing with the bass pumping through to the neighbors who live behind.

Spring Break Tension

I’m on spring break this week and as fate would have it Emily’s on spring break next week.

It’s thrilling to think what all I could do while on a week-long fast from class, but basically it comes down to a careful tension between doing something or doing nothing. Should I take this opporunity to sleep, read (for pleasure), peruse the Internet, dj, and sleep (yeh sleep twice)? Or, should I be a good boy and get a headstart on my upcoming papers due and therefore make my life easier in the long run?

I think I’ll go downstairs, watch a movie, and eat a bowl of ice cream and think about it. =)

Lady [concerning teenage daughter seated at table]: She eats sour cream like ice cream.

Gal [to the daughter]: You should move to Mexico.

Wouldn’t have been my first reply.

“You shouldn’t do that.”

“Have you tried eating ice cream like ice cream?”

Anyways, you might be thrilled to know that I’ve added new photos to MOT of a recent henna party at which I mixed up some tunes dj style and every one in attendance got ink done.

Armin van Buuren

It was kind of a last minute decision to go see Armin van Buuren dj in Charlotte; not because we knew about it and were putting it off but because I found out only a week in advance. We were fortunate enough to get tickets and find a decently priced hotel in downtown Charlotte (a three hour drive from Wake Forest). I’ve just added about 100 pictures from our time in Charlotte at the club (called The Forum), at our hotel (The Blake), and a funny little place we played around at on Friday the day after, before heading home, called Discovery Place (we saw the crazy Pompeii exhibit). There are cool pictures and funny pictures. The cool ones for us might be the funny ones for you. Oh well.

Lake Marstar & Town House Party

July fourth we went with some friends to Lake Gaston, NC. Big ups to Marla for the lake house! Yes, please. Yes, thank you! You can see videos of me jumping into tubes in the lake on the videos page as well as 80 some pictures in the photo gallery.

This past Monday, July 7th, was the first annual Town House Party. I debuted my wicked mixing skills by playing some banging house and electro tunes. I was hoping Emily would catch a video of me djing but I think she was too busy mingling and playing Wii. Oh well. You can still see some pictures from the shindig in the photo gallery.

Ice Cream Social

Last night we had an ice cream social with several invited guests as a pre-celebratory party for my birthday coming up on April 1st. We ate ice cream, played Taboo, burned phone book pages in the fire pit, ate hot sausages ("with chicken"), played chubby bunnies (not cool), drank Pepsi Max and I unwrapped my early present: a Hercules MK2 DJ console (yes!). Thanks to everyone who attended! Maybe the next shindig we do will be a late night house party, and by house party I do mean me throwing down the house music with my Hercules. I uploaded some pictures of the party to the gallery earlier today. I think we'll be going out to Pizza Hut on my birthday thanks to Justin who sent me a gift card! One stuffed crust supreme pizza coming right up please.
