Our First in a While

Last night we finally used gift certificates we had been given for Christmas. And thanks to our friends and neighbors GPA, Momma K and V we could leave Poppy at home for the evening and go out just the two of us for a meal. We ate at an upscale Tuscan/Italian place in Raleigh for which a very gracious benefactrix blessed us with a gift certificate. (Thanks!) Otherwise, we never would have gone.

The food was delicious but Emily made the evening. Just look how gorgeous she is in this picture. I felt nervous taking her out! Last night I re-discovered the joys of dating my wife. I would simply be a fool not to take her out again. Such a hard-working, fun-loving nurse, mummy, and helpmate deserves not only the best that Raleigh has to offer, but the best that I have to offer.

I love you, Peanut!

Mashed Potato Girl

Is there something instinctive about loving mashed potatoes? Maybe. Is there something instinctive about loving a mashed potato girl? Yep. Look at that wet greasy hair!

(I must clarify that her hair isn’t wet because it’s greasy. It’s wet because I reached over while washing dishes to sweep the hair out of her eyes. But, yeh, her hair is a bit greasy, too, after waking up from her nap today. It was 90 degrees here today!)

Lil Crunchies

Here’s a new video of Poppy eating her little cheese puff Lil Crunchies. She picks them up, pops them in her mouth, and moves onto the next one. Oh, and you know that she loves these little delights because she claps her little hands. Yep, claps.

Noodles & Company

On Sunday it was nice and warm so we went out for lunch at Noodles & Company. These days Poppy does not sit still for a second and you have to find ingenious ways to keep her entertained. I took some food for her to eat while we were eating but she wasn’t interested in it, she wanted what we were having so I gave her a piece of my pesto pasta and she loved it! She ended up sucking and chewing on three pieces!

Lemon Poppy?

Drew is always trying to give Poppy stuff to eat and drink that I don’t approve of, the other day he even tried giving her Coke! But last night while we were out at Texas Roadhouse he gave her a piece of lemon to see how she would react. I was ready with the camera to capture the funny faces. Take a look.

Eating Lunch Again

All these lunch dates! Poppy and I have such a busy social life, haha. After church Drew, Poppy and I ran through Bojangles drive-thru and picked up lunch to take back to our friends Geth and Kate’s house and to enjoy eating Sunday lunch with them. We haven’t really spent quality time with them since before Christmas so we thought it was time that all five of us hang out for some good old bonding time. Kate is around 27 weeks pregnant so there is much to talk about. In the photos Poppy got hold of Drew’s cup and spent a while chewing on the straw, then she got hold of the sauce container and chewed on that for a while, needless to say she is still teething like crazy.

A Mellow Lunch

A fellow Watts alumna was passing through town today so me, Poppy and our friend Marla met her for a lunch date. Jacquelyn aka J.W passed the NCLEX and officially became an RN this past Monday so we are totally excited for her. She has a job lined up at Duke University Hospital on their Oncology unit and we know shes just going to be an awesome nurse. We met under the giant mushroom at Mellow Mushroom and had a lovely time chatting about scrubs (the uniform, not the t.v show) and what shoes to buy. Poppy had fun seeing her good friends but was tired before we went and was only going down hill the longer we stayed. Marla had her usual cheese pizza, J.W had a calzone and I had a steak and cheese hoagie, next time I’ll get it without the sauce, I didn’t really like whatever sauce they put in it…is anyone a frequent visitor to MM and know what that sauce is so I can make sure they don’t put it in next time????? Well, we had fun. Oh I must add, about 30 mins before Poppy and I left the house it started snowing, nothing settled but it was kinda exciting to see snow again so I dressed Poppy up in her jester suit, you can tell that shes tired, at times like that I want to sing “I can see it in your eyes there is something, something you want to tell me”. Anyone know that song? LOL!!!
