So…..we had lunch at a lovely couple’s place this lunchtime, they made some yummy pasta and homemade apple pie. Scrummy it was! Unfortunately I had to get home to study but Drew stayed to play Wii. So I’m at home tidying up before I get ready to study when Drew comes bursting through the door [...]
I posted previously about our trip to Huntington, WV, over the weekend of May 23 to celebrate the wedding of our friends Jason and Suzie. Yesterday I finally found the time to resize, rename, and upload our pictures and two videos. There's a video of Emily on the Videos page praying at the opening of the service (you might need to turn up the volume quite a bite to hear her as I was seated in the back). Also, you can find around 140ish new pictures in our photo gallery of the rehearsal, shower, wedding, reception as well as a video of the bride's entrance.
We tonight went to see our friend and co-worker Daniel's band Hadwynn play in an indie venue over in Carrboro near UNC's campus. Beforehand was a Jammin' Jamaican pizza from the pizza place next door to the club, duringhand was a rocking concert (video below) and afterhand was drive home. That's too many hands, but nonetheless, what fun.
We want to say a big well done to our good friend Sarah Erwin who was just recently crowned Miss Mountaineer of West Virginia University. Sarah is a wonderful person and must have won the votes hands down! She is the most bubbly person I have ever met and puts a smile on the grumpiest of strangers. I remember when I worked at the rehab hospital in Morgantown and would bump into her as she was doing her student training as an occupational therapist, she would always cheer my day up for the few minutes we said hello.
So….congratulations Sarah you totally deserved becoming Miss Mountaineer, we love you. Emily and Drew
We are very happy indeed to celebrate with our friends Jason & Jamie Simmons on the birth of their first child, a very cute Gracie Nicole (born April 24). Weighing in at 6.8lbs, don't let this petite snickerdoodle fool you, she'll grow up to be just as feisty as her dad. Be sure to check out their website TeamMarshmallow.com for all the latest news and pictures of the bundle of joy in action (or just sleeping). Congratulations, Jason & Jamie. We celebrate with you on the advent of your new blessing!
I would like to share an event with you all that has changed my life. At our church (First Baptist Durham) every morning before the service starts, everyone in attendance is instructed to stand and greet those seated around you. The last couple Sundays Emily and I have been sitting in the balcony because of our laziness and tardiness. While in the balcony two Sundays ago, upon standing to greet, I turned to face a handsome, stout gentlemen–whose name I later learned is Allen because his wife, Suhmer, works at The Olde English Tea Room alongside Emily. Allen and I stood and faced one another. Thenceforth we extended hands to meet, grasp, and shake as is the custom among males. Much to our stupification our hands missed.
MaustsOnToast is the home of Drew, Emily and Poppy Maust. Drew's American. Emily's British and Poppy, on virtue of being our daughter, is both. Drew just graduated from seminary and Emily from nursing school. We live in Wake Forest, North Carolina.
