This week I’ve been hanging out at Union View Baptist Church in Franklinton and helping out with a free soccer camp put on by the church and some of my (new) friends. This picture is of my squad, the green dots. Myself and coach Lindsey (far right) led this team of 6 and 7 year olds through drills, trials, mini-games and full-blown matches every night this past week in the church’s field. You can check out tons more pictures courtesy of Lindsey.

By far the highlight of the week was sharing Jesus with the kids. We told them of Jesus’ great love for us and that he’s always with us. “When you’re happy, you can sing to Jesus. When you’re sad, you can cry to Jesus. He’s always with you.” May these youngins grow into kickin’ soccer players and radical followers of Christ!

I love it. Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary (SEBTS) has officially rocked my world today–and, it’s only the first day. After going to the first day of classes, will it be difficult? Umm…yes, sir. Will it be amazing? Too late, it’s already amazing.

Going from classes whose purposes were to discuss General Franco, Frida Kahlo and Rigoberta Menchu, to classes whose purposes are to equip students to develop a well-formed biblical hermeneutic and a prayer life that aids personal evangelism: welcome to Southeastern!

In other words, while my Spanish studies semi-excited me at WVU, the Advanced Biblical Studies of my current Master of Divinity track excites me all the more. I’m currently taking four courses: Christian Missions (how the church shares the gospel at home and abroad), Personal Evangelism (sharing the gospel one on one), Hermeneutics (how to properly interpret the Bible) and Church History II (pre-Reformation Christianity up to the 20th Century).

Lots of reading. Lots of lectures. Lots of paper-writing. But, hey, how else are we to learn? This is the college of I’ve been looking forward to.

It turns out my Personal Evangelism professor, Dr. Solc, was a professional hockey and tennis player in his fatherland, the glorious Czech Republic. His haircut is also similiar to that of Donald Trump; but, wow, does he love Jesus and people.

Today was also the first time that I’ve ever been in a class where the professor opened with a word of prayer.

It's been a slow week at Theydon Bois. We've had the Formula 1 British
Grand Prix and England versus Paraguay in the Soccer World Cup. The
Grand Prix was a disappointment as our boy, Jensen Button, withdrew
after a few laps due to engine failure. But the soccer was more hopeful
as we won the match when Paraguay scored an own goal. We must do
better in the next game. The performance so far has been unimpressive.

The plant sale in the village for Cancer Relief has been more
hopeful . Georgina has been doing her bit. She took some plant pots
to the house where the plant sale was held and left them around the
back. When she went to the sale the next Saturday she realised it was
at a completely different house. Imagine the surrprise when the pots
were discovered. Who had left them? We are keeping quiet.
