The wedding day was superb and packed with chatting, laughing, singing, catching-up, dancing, and eating and more eating. Since Emily was a bride’s maid and I was occupied with making sure flower girl Poppy made it down the aisle successfully, we weren’t actually able to take any pictures during the service. We did get some at the reception, but looking back we wish we had taken more.

What’s more, Poppy fell asleep in the car on the way to the reception and didn’t get crackin’ with the party until well after the main reception meal. At least Mummy and Daddy were able to sit and enjoy the delicious lamb though! But this also means that we didn’t get many pictures of Poppy looking like a perfect princess. Next to the bride, she and Emily were the two most beautiful ladies there!

We ended up partying until well after 11pm, with live music and barn dancing. All in all, it was a wonderful day and we look forward to getting to know our new brother-in-law more and more in the future. Congratulations, you guys!

I posted previously about our trip to Huntington, WV, over the weekend of May 23 to celebrate the wedding of our friends Jason and Suzie. Yesterday I finally found the time to resize, rename, and upload our pictures and two videos. There's a video of Emily on the Videos page praying at the opening of the service (you might need to turn up the volume quite a bite to hear her as I was seated in the back). Also, you can find around 140ish new pictures in our photo gallery of the rehearsal, shower, wedding, reception as well as a video of the bride's entrance.

You'd think it a crazy coincidence that you're on a website called MaustsOnToast and some guy's talking about eatin' beans on toast. You can infer from the fact that I'm eating beans on toast that I'm home alone tonight while Emily's at class; otherwise we'd be having corn on the cob, french fries, and hot wings.

 

It's been a while since either one of us Mausts on toast have written anything on here, so let me go ahead and say that we've booked flights to come to England for Christmas and New Years. We're scheduled to leave December, 12th @ 6:00am Lord willin' and the creek don't rise. We're hoping there'll be happy Hayes's there to greet us later that evening. Can you believe the airport was gonna charge $120 to park long-term while we're gone!? We've got some friends lined up to take us. What friends they are, let me tell you: we've got to be at the airport at 4am, which means leaving our place at about 3:30am! It's a shame we couldn't leave sooner but I've got my last final exam that Tuesday night before we fly on Wednesday, the 12th. Anyways, you Angles, Jutes, Picts, and Saxons better get ready for MaustsOnTour. We need a vacation!

 

In other news, I've added a melange of autumnal pictures (pumpking carving, Celtic Woman, and a squirrel!) to the Photo Gallery in addition to pictures from my cousin Greg's wedding in Ohio on September 22nd.

Emily may take exception to calling America home, but apart from home being where the heart is, Emily’s body tonight is attending her first prerequisite class for Nursing School. She’ll be taking those prereq’s now until December, Tuesday and Thursday nights. First off, it’s English on Tuesdays–(Georgina, I think you have a funny comment about Emily taking English from Americans). Then, on the Thursday nights it will be Psychology. Maybe after these classes she’ll be able to talk more properly–that’s a relative term–and cure my somnambulism.

Chris Hickok (the best man from our wedding and dear friend) took his turn at the marriage thing this past weekend in Huntington, West Virginia. With 200 guests in attendance, Emily and I dressed up in our smartest attire and had a gay time with the jocund company. If you didn't happen to be in Huntington that weekend of the 12th of August, we've got enough pictures of the event in our photo gallery to choke a Shetland Pony. Mosey on over and check 'em out!

She will be a nurse technician working right beside nurses and doing their dirty work. And did I mention she gets to wear cute little scrubs like they do on E.R.? And while Emily is getting her nurse on at Health South, I will be... ...delivering ice all over the state of West Virginia (and sometimes Maryland). This past week, I worked Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday; not a bad week at all. I get to drive this monstrous truck around town and throw ice into these cute little ice boxes at stores like Wal-Mart, Kroger, and gas stations and all kinds of little Mom an' Pop shops. I said that this coming week is going to be exciting and full of hilarity; well, that is because on Saturday Matt (my brother) and Christina (his fiancee) are getting married at 11am in Beckley at Memorial Baptist Church. Emily is a bride’s maid and I a groomsman. We will be sure to take lots of pictures for everyone to see the festivities. After the wedding, we all are going to wish them farewell as they take off for Baltimore where they will be taking a cruise! What fun, eh?!!?! Can we come along?!

That’s May for us: wedding, work, and wonderful weather!

Oh, we do need to take some pictures of our new place and get them on here because: WOW! Emily is going to town with pimping this little abode out. We got candles, and ribbons, and all kinds of creative knicknacks creating a warm, inviting homely atmosphere. And our doors are now open for guests to come and sup and dine and eat and break fast with us!

What books are we reading at the moment?
Drew: St. Augustine’s Confessions
Emily: James Alexander Thom’s Follow the River

What are we watching at the moment?
We: rented Tristan & Isolde last week.
Emily: Whose Wedding Is It Anyways? & How Do I Look? both on the style channel.
Drew: My Fair Lady, The Office, That 70s Show, the catholic channel (because the Pope’s been on and the services at the Vatican are in like 8 different languages, and the Vatican’s the only state still rocking Latin).

Plans for the future?
Eat pizza.
