7 Months going on 2 years

Tomorrow on January 25th Poppy turns 7 months old but at a glance you’d think she was older for no other reason than the fact that she probably has longer hair than most 2 year olds!  Poppy’s hair is actually starting to really annoy me.  Don’t get me wrong I absolutely adore it, it makes her look so sweet and pretty but oh my dayz it is forever getting in her eyes, forever matted at the back and forever getting pureed banana in it!!!  No longer do the cute mini little clips that once do the trick and made a perfect alternative to those tacky headbands mother’s put on their girls who have no hair (sorry if I offend anyone, but honestly, for real? They have no hair, why would they need a head band? Its the tackiest thing ever and I hope I stop a few people who read this from doing it, heehee).  No, now we’re onto the big guns, big girl clips and even they don’t always do the job.  Recently I have contemplated cutting it, “NO!” I hear the Granny’s shout, but right now its a mullet, yes Poppy’s cute but even she can’t make a mullet look good.  There are some really short bits at the top of her head but the longest pieces are way past her shoulders….so I was thinking if we cut it to about 2cm below her ear level maybe it won’t look so much like a mullet.  Her first proper haircut at 7 months old, funny!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Fear not, I doubt I’ll do it, I’m not that bothered, especially as she represents the state in which Drew and I met and gives me fond memories.

But at 7 months this is where Poppy is at.

  • She weighs roughly 16 lbs
  • Shes roughly 27inches long
  • She has 2 teeth (both centre incisors)
  • Shes wearing 6-9 month clothes but they’re big on her and we have to fold up the sleeves and trousers
  • Shes not crawling yet and hates being on her tummy but when shes sitting on the floor and leans forward enough she gets herself into the crawling position and then flops to the floor and proceeds to flap about like a beached whale.
  • Her favourite food is banana and broccoli (separately, ew not together!)
  • She sleeps from 6pm to roughly between 7am some days, 8am other days.  Shes a big sleeper. Praise the Lord!
  • She takes 2 naps a day, one in the morning and one in the afternoon around 2pm. Roughly 1-2 hours each time.  And you can read her like a book, if you smile at her and she doesn’t smile back you know its nap time.
  • Her bath time is at 5pm after her evening meal.
  • She eats two times a day, morning and evening.
  • Poppy adores her Garden excersaucer that she got from Granny C and Grandpa for Christmas, her favourite thing is to pull the lid off the snack tray and chew on it until its time to throw it on the floor.  Poppy also LOVES standing up so theres another reason why she loves being in the excersaucer.

  • Last but not at all least, Poppy is 7 months old and gets her hair blow dried every night after her bath.  And every night shes scared of the hairdryer, I’m sure she thinks its alive from the way I move it really quickly, she doesn’t cry or freak out but you can see it in her eyes and if shes sitting in front of me she’ll go from staring at the dryer to burying her head in my clothes, its so cute!

Emily I love this post! I laughed a lot. I sure hope our girl has hair so I’m not tempted for the headband. If Josh dresses her though… Lookout. Mullets are classy. Or maybe they are just classic. lol Reading this makes me want to watch Joe Dirt.

Thanks for reading and leaving a comment Beth!! I seriously want to find the person who started the trend of putting headbands on babies without hair and ask them WHAT WERE YOU THINKING?!?! lol. Aww but its a personal choice and if you guys want Miss Callaway to wear a headband you make sure she rocks it with confidence! I’ve never seen Joe Dirt and I think Drew owns it (he would!) so I may have to watch it myself, I’m sure there are plenty of classy mullets in that movie. Thanks Bethy!

I love reading your blog Emily, very funny. I cannot believe how much she has grown. she is turning into a very beautiful little girl. I have seriously thought about blogging so Reubens parents can read about the kids but I do a lot of scrapbookng so it seems kinda silly doing it twice? cant wait to see you guys

Thanks Monica, yea I can imagine it would be a bit time consuming if you did a blog AND scrapbooking. I’m interested to see how long I keep this blog going, I can get so lazy with this kind of thing, its like journaling, I get really motivated and promise myself I’ll write in it everyday and then write a few pages and never open the journal again. So we’ll see how long this lasts. Glad you enjoy reading, keep checking back!
