Lunar Eclipse of the Heart

What happens when the Earth gets between the Sun and Moon? It's a total lunar eclipse of the Moon!

If you're in the eastern United States like Emily and I, you want to look east just after sunset between the hours of 7 and 8 tonight Saturday, March 3, 2007.

If you're in the UK, turn your eyes toward heaven at approximately 11:58pm tonight.

Rule, Britannia! Britannia, Rule the Waves

We joined First Baptist Durham this morning. The congregation voted after the service, and we are pleased to announce that the ayes have it. We are very excited about getting involved at First Baptist. We’ve been attending a Spanish-speaking Sunday School class on Sunday mornings. Emily’s joined the choir and we are helping with a youth retreat this weekend. Check out the church website. Though it’s a bit dated, you can download this Sunday’s sermon and hear what we heard. And if you do so, you will hear in the sermon today that Pastor Andy referenced the British Empire. And I, for one, learned a new British anthem that I hadn’t heard before: Rule, Britannia!

New World Symphony

Tomorrow night, Friday December 8th, Emily and I have the amazing privledge to experience the sounds of the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra live in person at the WVU Creative Arts Center here in Morgantown in series entitled The Torray Symphony Series. The Creative Arts website describes the upcoming performance:

"Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra Concertmaster Andres Cardenes headlines this concert with a virtuosic performance of Bruch's brilliant Violin Conerto No. 1, and Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra Artistic Advisor, Sir Andrew Davis, conducts Dvorak's popular New World Symphony, plus Mozart's famous Overture to The Magic Flute."

Hopefully this will be the first of many trips to the symphony!
