If I could wrap Poppy up in bubble wrap, I would. If she could live in a bubble, I’d put her there myself, but neither is possible. Sooner or later it was bound to happen. Now that Poppy is walking 95% of the time she bumps and flops and trips all over the place while she waits for her balance and step to perfect. This morning was a quiet morning at home, Poppy was playing with her new dolly and baby buggy when all of a sudden she screams and I look over and shes holding the side of her face which I thought was unusual for her because she never really locates where shes hurt herself. Normally she is really good at brushing herself off and going on without a fuss but when she’s tired she cries a bit more.
So Daddy picks her up and cuddles with her. Suddenly he says “Emily shes bleeding”. I gasp in horror as I look over and see blood running down her forehead. I could not believe it! I quickly got in to nurse mode and ran to get some gauze. We cleaned the blood up a bit to see how bad the cut was. Poppy was screaming in pain so we quickly gave her Ibuprofen and called our pediatric office to find out what we should do. A yellow bruise had already formed and there was a huge bump under the cut. The docs told us to come in and they’d see how bad it was. So we ran straight out the door and got seen within 10 mins. They cleaned up the cut and the doc used dermabond (medical grade super glue) to make sure the edges stayed together and to reduce scarring while the cut heals. My perfect little angel face already has a scar like her Mummy. It breaks my heart! The doc said to make sure we put sunscreen on the area when we go out because that will reduce the scarring. Oh Poppy, my sweet little thing. Drew jokes that it is now her 1 year mark.
