As I was bathing Poppy Drew runs into thee bathroom and says theres a fire next door and fire engines everywhere. We look out of the bathroom window and theres firemen hurrying into the house next door but no sign of flames. I carry on giving Poppy a quick bath and Drew is running around like an excited little boy taking blankets to the ladies who live in the house who are standing outside. After I dress Poppy nice and warm in her PJ’s and wrap her in an extra blanket we both go out to see whats going on. I was SHOCKED when I saw how many fire engines were outside. They were lining the whole road!! Drew was still running around with the camera and texting our friends who live behind us. Poppy and I stood out on the porch for a little bit to see if we could get in on the action. At one point I thought about shouting “does anyone need a nurse?!?!?!?!” Bahahahaha! Drew also said there was a reporting walking around so I checked myself in the mirror just in case she wanted a comment from a witness. Poppy was very unsure, a couple of times she made a little whimper but we didn’t stay out too long because it was bedtime. In fact the engines were there for so long that I had to put Poppy to bed with flood lights beaming through her bedroom window and the drone of the big engines making a loud noise, but she still fell asleep like a very good girl. It turned out to be a cooking fire, but from friends’ experiences of house fires the worst thing is the smoke damage, so although our neighbours didn’t lose their house I’m unsure of the complete damage that remained. Heres some shots that Drew captured.
