Come and Eat

We mentioned in our latest newsletter that we’re learning a Nigerian language as practice for language learning on the field in Cameroon. One key aspect of language learning is culture learning. Linguist Greg Thomson puts it this way:

“Don’t learn the language! Rather, relearn the world as it is known and shared by the people whose language you are learning.”

Here’s a video of our group hearing about accepting/rejecting an invitation to a meal in our language’s culture.

Hi Tim! Thank you for the Jordan family’s continued partnership with us. Share with Jordan the praise that we are still on target to head overseas to begin our first assignment this January with language school in France. We have 97% of our needed ministry budget and fully expect to reach the rest by December–which in itself is a huge praise. We are scheduled to be at language school for a year and then will arrive in Cameroon after that. We are so thankful for the wonderful (linguistics) preparation we’re receiving here in Dallas and will receive in France so that we can effectively translate the Bible and minister in Cameroon. Thank you guys for being a part of it! Blessings!
