Preparing For Thanksgiving

This year is some what of a special Thanksgiving for us.  It will be Henry’s first Thanksgiving and possibly our last one (for a while anyways) in America.  It will also be special because we will be spending it with Mamaw, Papaw and Uncle Justin as they come down to visit us here in Texas!

With all that in mind Poppy and I decided we needed to practice our baking skills (mine are probably on par with hers) to enable us to contribute in some way to the Thanksgiving yummies that will be consumed over the week.

So today after we dropped Granny and Grandad off at the airport we went home and baked Pumpkin bread!  Take a look!

First we measured out the brown sugar and flour.
"I need a spoon Mummy" says Poppy as she reaches over to the draw where we keep her plastic silverware, pulls out a spoon and starts stiring.
That face says it all.
Then we mix in the eggs and oil and I offer Poppy a better spoon.
All along shes asking if she can eat it.
After mixing everything together (or so we thought) we poor it into the pan.
About to scrape the bowl.
Carefully putting it in to the oven.
Checking it out.
Its ready!
Excited to try it.
The taste test.
Big bite.
Looks hopeful.
Success!

The pumkin bread turned out surprisingly well seeing as I first forgot to mix in the actual pumpkin!!!  Drew realised when he opened the kitchen cupboard and there was sitting the can of pumpkin filling I was supposed to include!!  LOL.  We all had a good laugh as I pulled the pan out of the oven, poured the contents back in to the mixing bowl and stirred in the pumpkin.  So typical!  See I’m just not talented in the kitchen, not even functional.  But I am excited that next week we can do this all over again, if not only for the way it makes the house smell like fall

Great photos. I like being able to visualize the scenario.
The bread looks great and so does the little cook.
