Finding New Talents

Yesterday I was sitting playing with Henry and his stacking cups.  Typically children love to knock down the tower that someone, other than themselves, has built.  So I had stacked the cups a couple of times but Henry didn’t seem that interested.  A bit later, I noticed that he was trying to fit the cups back in to themselves.  He was struggling, getting all the sizes mixed up, but if I passed him the right one he could do it without hesitation.

Now I know I have kinda set this up to sound like he has just found the cure for cancer, but I just find it fascinating.  Watching a baby, a child, a person develop…it’s simply amazing.  Probably more so when it is your own because every little success brings out a cheerful hurrah when the task is accomplished.  But who knows how long he’s been able to do that, however, yesterday was the day he discovered he could!

Poppy had her second gymnastics class today.  I think I had more fun watching her than she had doing it!! Ha!  Though she does seem to have a blast, you can tell by her squeals and enthusiasm.  However, during the warm-up she acts very nervous and needs a little time to settle in, but once the activities begin she is unstoppable.  A big praise today was finding out that the gymnastics school are going to let Poppy enroll (and pay) just up until December (normally children enroll for the whole year, nothing less).  So I was really thankful about that.

Poppy may not continue on with her gymnastics career 😉 but it warms my heart that she is giving it a go and enjoying the experience.

So whether this family is stumbling upon new talents or stretching our comfort zones and working hard to obtain new abilities, we pray these talents and abilities ultimately serve the purpose of bringing glory of God.

I will leave you with Henry’s little triumph.
