Strawberry Pickin’

It was on my list of things to do before we leave North Carolina to go strawberry picking.  A friend had warned me that time was ticking and the season would be ending soon.  So I was eager and impatient to find a farm.

Drew found Vollmer Farms, a cute little place that wasn’t too commercial but still facilitated a lovely experience for us and a fun time for Poppy.  The best thing about this place was that their strawberries were organic.  They had a cute little store where they sold already picked strawberries and other organic produce from their farms.  They had a play area with a wooden ship, an old plane and a giant black board with chalk.  Poppy also got to ride in a wagon as we walked to the strawberry field.  The weather was too perfect, nice and hot so we felt sweaty, sticky and overheated from working in the fields.

The end result was large bucket of sweet, juicy strawberries that tasted like they had been kissed by the sun.  I was satisfied.

What fun! I haven’t picked strawberries for years. The strawberries in your bucket look deliciously juicy. Poppy seems to have enjoyed herself if the juice on her brown top tells a tale. The farm reminds me of the one where we found our pumpkins and the corn barn. Hope you didn’t have tummy ache after your strawberry picking.

Strawberries were delicious and I put her in that brown top purposefully because I knew she would squish them between her fingers and get the juice everywhere.
